Arlene Fisher

Vice President of Clinical Services
Family Services of Greater Houston

Arlene Fisher, MA, LMFT, LPC is currently the Vice President of Clinical Services at Family Services of Greater Houston.   She became interested in the treatment of trauma while at the Houston Veteran’s Hospital in 1993-1994.  At that time the Vietnam Veterans being treated in the Day Treatment and Family Therapy programs were still severely impacted by the effects of PTSD.  Mrs. Fisher spent the next five years providing therapy to children in the foster care system.  In order to treat these clients, she studied the effects of trauma and lack of attachment on the developing brain.  Her roles as director of Behavioral Health and Child Welfare at DePelchin Children’s Center allowed her to continue studying the best practices for treating trauma.  She was co-chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.  In that role Mrs. Fisher was actively involved in the development of a trauma informed training manual for resource parents.  In addition, she served a consultant for the Illinois Children’s Protective Services foster parent training development.  Arlene Fisher has provided many presentations at local, state, and national conferences about the impact of trauma and lack of attachment and the most promising treatment methods.
