During this two-part workshop, attendees will learn all they need to know about major gift fundraising during session one, then will practice the “ask” in groups of four with helpful hints from the presenters during session two. Both sessions will provide participants with confidence in knowing how to plan major gift efforts for maximum effect. Presenters will cover what donors expect from staff and organizations; how to segment donor and prospective donor populations; the roles of the board, volunteers, senior executives, and program staff; cultivation scenarios; stewardship necessities; family and community foundations; and corporate support. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring 10 copies of a written 250-word project summary requiring major gift support. Chief executives, board members, senior leaders, and fund development staff are welcome to attend.
Leonard Iaquinta, principal, Excellence in Communications; and Barbara Ritchie, executive director, Griffith Centers for Children Foundation
