Telling Your Best Stories To Engage Lifetime Donors (RD)

Thursday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Session:
C4
Track:
Resource Development (RD)

In successful philanthropy, brands are created through methodical planning, strict guardianship of the footprint, and constant, cohesive messaging. This interactive workshop will review communications tools, tactics, and strategies for effectiveness in philanthropy. During the workshop, attendees will learn about developing a strategic communications toolbox (building and managing your brand); understanding “who wants to know?” (segmenting your audience); exploring the power of storytelling (what motives and moves); examining the art of the story (its attributes and questions); how to add stories to your toolbox (engaging the line staff); and putting stories to work to engage lifetime donors (knowing when and where to use which story).

Madinah Grier, development and communications director, Children’s Aid and Family Services; and Rochelle Parker, vice president of communications and development, The Family Conservancy
